Red Velvet Cake

Our ‘Southern Belle’ is a light chocolate cake layered and covered with vanilla frosting. It gets its deep red colour from — dare we say it — red food colouring. As an alternative to vanilla frosting you can use cream cheese icing. For an impressive result, finsh the cake with a dusting of fine red velvet cake crumbs, as shown in the photograph opposite.
